Christa Cochran is a computer scientist and multi-disciplinary artist based in Seattle. She works with emerging technology and code as a medium to create images that evoke the surreal. Compelled by dreamscapes and the subconscious, she draws from her experience in algorithmic living, computational creativity, and software development. As an advocate for women in STEM, Christa has years of experience in tutoring and uplifting computer science students.
Artist Statement
The toolkit of technology is mathematical, rigid, and static yet can introduce errors, glitches, manipulations - even creativity. My background in computer science helps me create works that invite viewers to visualize dreamscapes and to think algorithmically. I use AI, code, photography, printmaking, software, and various digital tools to translate the subconscious into reality.
